Mark Cutifani is a globally recognized mining leader with more than 45 years of experience across six continents and 30+ commodities. As Chief Executive of Anglo American (2013–2022), he led a major transformation, doubling productivity, reducing costs by 40%, and delivering industry-leading shareholder returns. Under his leadership, Anglo American became a global benchmark for sustainability and innovation.

Previously, Mark was CEO of AngloGold Ashanti and held senior leadership roles with Vale, Inco, Rio Tinto, and other international mining companies. He also served as President of the International Council for Mining and Metals and the South African Chamber of Mines.

Mark’s contribution to global mining has been honored with multiple industry awards, including the AusIMM Industry Award and the SAIMM Brigadier Stokes Award. In 2024, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to global mining investment. Today, he serves on the board of TotalEnergies and advises a range of organizations on transformation, sustainability, and governance, bringing a boardroom perspective on what directors expect from executives.
