Wan Norashikin Mohd Nasir (Nonie)

Group Head of Risk

Nonie is an experienced strategic leader and has been offering specialized risk management & business continuity management (BCM) support to leading multinational corporations for the past 25 years.  

She began as a Management Associate in CITIGROUP and joined PETRONAS holding various positions from risk management to strategic planning. She has been in international operations, including in Sudan, through civil wars and joint ventures with oil & gas multinationals such as CNODC, Sinopec and ONGC.

In 2012, she led Upstream International in pioneering enterprise risk, country and BCM for international operations before joining downstream business portfolio risk management & BCM to lead risk, crisis management & BCM covering over 120 entities in 30 countries.  

In these leadership roles, she introduced innovative approaches to driving risk culture, emerging risks, integrated supply chain BCM for refining/trading, petrochemical, and marketing. She provided risk advisory to the Executive Committee and Leadership Teams. 

In 2020 she joined Indorama Ventures, a global petrochemical company with over 15 business verticals, including PET, specialty polymers, recycling, fiber-hygiene, lifestyle, mobility and international oxides, derivatives and surfactants. As Global VP of Risk Management & BCM, Nonie led a diverse global team overseeing over 140 plants in 38 countries across six continents. She was also chair of the Risk Management Council, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and a member and secretariat to the Sustainability ESG Council. 

Now she is Head of Group Risk Management at Gentari, a PETRONAS flagship sustainability business, leading and transforming the clean energy industry with renewable energy, green hydrogen and green mobility for the nation. She oversees enterprise risk and business continuity management across six business segments and 107 entities globally.  

She is a certified DRI Associate Business Continuity Practitioner with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, UCL (UK). She is passionate about helping people in need, stepping outside of her comfort zone, taking on new challenges, and exploring new perspectives for growth. Her mantra is ‘seize the day’ and that we don’t have to wait to be confident! Just do it, and confidence will follow. 

Nonie was announced Winner of the Leadership Excellence category in the WeQual Awards, Asia Pacific 2021. She is also a lifetime member of WeQual Executives.
